April is a registered nurse with a Master’s in Public Health Nursing and has extensive experience in acute care. As a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Cannabis Nurses Association, the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association, and the American Holistic Nurses Association, she is also Healer Certified and completed the first Medical Cannabis certificate program for healthcare professionals.
While education alone might illustrate April’s expertise in cannabis as medicine, her focus on cannabis began when her son suffered a traumatic brain injury and she saw the positive impact of cannabis in her son’s life. Over the past six years, April has been a tireless advocate for providing education, support, and advocacy to patients and the cannabis industry.
Today, she serves in multiple capacities including the continuation of 1:1 patient consultations, developing and facilitating dispensary staff training, and her role teaching cannabis pharmacology at Saint Louis University.
Despite wearing so many hats in the industry, April’s passion for educating others is what keeps her constantly moving forward and continuing to spread science-based evidence to the industry and patients at large.
Matt Cascio has been a Registered Nurse for 21 years. He has worked in various areas including the OR, Case Management, Critical Care and he just recently left Oncology.
As a child of the sixties, Matt grew up being very cannabis aware, especially as a musician. In 2014, while working with founders of a CBD company, he began his journey to educate himself about CBD, THC, the Endocannabinoid system, terpenes, and all of the amazing benefits of cannabis. He was the Cannabis Nurse Educator for the chain of CBD stores in Kansas City and over the last 2 years had the opportunity to educate hundreds of customers. Matt is well known throughout Missouri for his knowledge of cannabis and has spoken at several events.
Matt’s goal is to help patients meet theirs. He is dedicated to providing education on dosing, methods of administration, potentially therapeutic strains, side effects, and drug interactions. He does this best when he works with the patients to create individualized treatment plans that promote long-term success.
Matt is a member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association, The Cannabis Nurses Network and Cannabis Certified by The Medical Cannabis Institute. Matt is a Life Coach, Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional, which has given him the opportunity to help first responders and medical professionals, and plays guitar in a local band.
We are honored that Matt will be working with us as we strive to elevate the industry and help patients find success.
